Detroit Free Press: Editorial: Legislature should rein in bullies, not license them. "Even if they didn't mean to, Michigan Senate Republicans sent a frightening message to kids: It's OK to pick on someone if they don't share your religious values, or if your own sense of moral piety frowns on who they are or what they do." Ironically, the Free Press wants the language removed so that if a students says homosexuality is a sin because of this Bible verse, they will themselves be punished as bullies. This is speech code that turns the first amendment on its head by banning faith. Essentially they want to trade a few young bullies on the local level who will grow up and learn the error of their ways for hundreds of powerful state-level bullies that will neither grow up nor learn theirs. No thanks.
